My journey began in November of 2009. I was a 35 year old mother of two and had recently resigned my 40-hour-a-week desk job to be a “stay at home” mom. I realized it was time to begin some sort of exercise routine that would help me tone up and live a healthier life. For almost 8 years I had paid for a gym membership and like most people, I never went.
My first experience with a personal trainer was a disaster. I spent half of my training sessions on a treadmill and the rest doing some sort of weight machine. Needless to say, the thought of working with another trainer scared me. But in 2009, I decided to give it another shot and began working with a new trainer. This time, I met someone who actually cared and provided me with the support and motivation I needed to get into the gym, which completely changed my life.
In August of 2010, I attended classes at TRX’s headquarters in San Francisco and received my certification in their TRX Suspension Training course. I enjoyed the versatility of the TRX Suspension Trainer so much that I subsequently sought out certifications in TRX Group Training, TRX Sports Medicine and TRX Rip Training.
In July 2011, I started thinking that I would like to help people, just how my trainer helped me. So, I set my mind on becoming a personal trainer. I researched many fitness education programs and decided to obtain my Personal Trainer Certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Since then, I’ve obtained a Weight Loss Specialist certification, as well as a Fitness Nutrition Specialist and Sports Nutrition Specialist certifications, through NASM. Knowing that a trainer who cares, makes all the difference between failure and success in health and fitness. My focus is helping my clients with both their fitness and their nutritional needs. The two are equally important in achieving healthier lifestyles and being successful.
HEATHER'S STORY
In addition to Personal Training, I’ve enjoyed other fitness and competing activities over the past four years.
I ran five (5) mud runs between 2010 and 2011. While some, such as the world famous Camp Pendleton mud run, were challenging, I wanted to push myself a bit more. So, I ran my first half-marathon in 2012 and since that time completed another six (6). In my last run, I accomplished my goal of finishing in under two hours. I did my first marathon, the Mountains 2 Beach Marathon in May 2015, which was such a challenging, yet rewarding accomplishment.
I also decided to compete in NPC Bikini Competitions and entered my first show in June of 2012. I’ve competed in fourteen competitions, placing top 5 in twelve and winning my very first NPC Show at the Ironman Naturally Championships.
As personal trainer, I absolutely love what I do! I want to help others set and achieve new goals, no matter what they might be, because accomplishing something new, is such a rewarding experience. It’s about BELIEVING in yourself and never giving up. Yes, it takes hard work and dedication, but if you BELIEVE you can, you WILL succeed!
